Way too much

Hi everyone out there in COLD WINTER LAND

I am just trying to keep sane on these cold days off so I started painting my dining room.  It seems as if everytime I choose a white for the walls , after it dries , it looks green or pinkish. So this time I walked in and said give me hospital white because the color changes with the light.
Of course I don't know of a hospital room or foyer that is white any more but you get the drift.
Ultra white was my choice with a soft gray accent wall.

First one must empty years and years of dishes from the china closet, and line the large window with cookpots. That is for the melting ice on the roof coming through the window in large drips.
Then move all the furniture to other places!

Now if you don't know me well, you wouldn't know how much I desire pretty dishes. Having said that check out the next pics .It could be embarrasing if I let it.
Seems as if I just had tons to move, then rewash, and reload before stipping and painting. But in the end all went back and a few things thrown out ( not many) sigh! You are going to ask me what this has to do with cards or SU? This actually is our stamping room, so now it will be bright and sunnier than ever, with crispy white walls. Cant wait for you all to see it.

Believe it or not I use every dish and glass you see posted here. Maybe you will be one of these recipents one day! See you soon when I finish painting!!

Valentines Fun

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a nice week and a nice Valentines Day. For some of us to get a card is simple , elegant and meaningful. For others something red would just suffice nicely --thank you very much!!!
For me I would rather go out to dinner somewhere not ordinary to me. First I received 2 cards in the mail which were handmade. I would love for you to see them so I have posted them below. Hubby never forgets to get me a card even though he forgets other things. It is so fun to get mail that is just for you!

The one has a handmade envelope made from SU new envelope maker. She used the sweetest paper ever don't you think? Also  love her border punch but it was not one I recognize. I also received the other card from a friend and it uses SU top note die which is so popular. How creative she used it folded to make a faux envelope.. Which one do you like better???

I just had to post the darling dum dum flowers I gave away for the girls at workshop. These are from SU flower spiral die. It seems as if no matter what color they are , they are just so gorgeous. I used REAL RED and CAMEO CORAL for the petals with  PEAR PIZZAZ for the leaves. These I cut from a flower punch I had and split the flower into leaves by cutting up them. Actually made quite nice leaves by doing this, if I say so myself.

I did get to go to dinner with my niece and husband which was SOOOO my blessing. We drove down to Altoona and had Chinese at YAMATOS. I will save this post for another day so I can share my GORGEOUS dinner. So stay tuned and hope you are inspired today with the spirit of VALENTINES.

Remember SALE a  BRATION is still on so if you need any product from the inspiration today just call or e- mail me . If you would like to leave a comment at the bottom just click comment, write it,submit with google or  a url and click publish.
See you all soon!

Winter workshop for Wed nite group

Hello on this freezing cold morning to everyone. To nite is the Wed evening card workshop for the month. We actually have a full table despite the temperature. I guess they are tired of being in so much and a nite out of color and stimulation doesn't sound too SHABBY.

To nite we will be doing a REAL RED card with winter chickadees and a pine branch. The stamp set is non SU but we will use real red card-stock along with 2 embossed pieces. The red card is embossed only on the front. Next we will use for trim our new gray called SMOKEY SLATE for the under strip and the large circle, which I cut with SU 2" circle die. The white strip gets embossed but not the gray.
All embossing done with ELEGANT IMPRESSIONS folder. You may easily switch that out with one you may have. The white circle used is our 2 1/2 punch for ease.

You could stamp a cardinal which would be darling but I did  not have one. So I did chickadees
In black only and after it is all glued together, I had glitter glued the feathers in a black glitter i had.For interest I added a strip of burlap which I glued down, then popped up the circles. It is really sweet and could be made into any sentiment. I also added a branch from a Tim Holtz die i have been wanting to use. The pine branch was done in WILD WASABI which I adore.

This is a great time in SALE A BRATION to stock up on inkpads , refills ,and markers to match. I always buy a marker for fill ins. We all know stamping is not perfect. Don' t we.

So now you get the drift . I hope some of you are feeding GOD's little creations at this time of the year.
My hubby goes out everyday and talks to them which inspired me to do this card. I have more to share but not today . It is time to go to work.
Winter wishes

An awful winter day

So here we are today on this blustery afternoon. I tried to content myself with another missed work day and succeeded for a little while until the heat went off. At this point I headed upstairs to my shabby studio and decided to clean and rid up the poor little thing.

First I pitched old things I had saved( you know the things you may use one day) and that seemed a little better. Then I took down the curtains and washed those. Now you know there is an ice storm and tons of wind here. I opened the windows and it was glorious with the wind streaming through. It had been since Nov. for fresh air upstairs. I popped out the windows and got them washed and put back with a shine on them. Next I hung the curtains and washed woodwork.

All along this WINGED GIRL watched from her place on the wall overseeing all I had taken on for the day. She never said a word but smiled slightly as I put everything back. I bought her last year along with some friends coaxing me to get her at a HOME GOODS. Finally my hubby hung her up after I doctored her a little. A little while ago, I added birds to her dress butterfly on her bodice and sunflowers on her hem. Now she is just perfect and reminds me of all the summer things I love.
Well I believe I have done enough for one day. Enjoy My Winged Friend and I will get back to you soon.!

Now after telling you all this , I had to reload all my photos  because we had gotten a new PC and all the pics went bye byes .So today I started from scratch, and took a shot of her watching me and downloaded my first old and new photos on my new PC.

Cold weather Art

So what is everyone doing to keep sane in this cold weather?? I am delving into some kind of art each evening using color and texture to keep me sane.

I just took an art water color class last Sat .Each person there brought a photo of a landscape to draw and paint from but not me. Of course being unique in my own way , I brought a small pic of THE RUBY SLIPPERS from the Wizard of Oz. I surprised myself and the teacher said " How refreshing to see something besides landscapes" which of course he would say. Ha ha""""

See it is not too bad, now also I have been art JOURNALING which is combining art with journaling .It is helping me to free my more tight spirit. This is enabling me to channel my thoughts onto paper instead of internalizing them. This next pic is what I am talking about,. This paticular one is not my own but will give you some insight.  Well I need to get to the art work while Super Bowl is on.
Enjoy my whimsy but tonite,  I need to go start my cards for the next class. Until we meet on the pages again.    Donna

Victorian Girls Book Mark or tag

This is one of the vintage photos we used for the Monday workshop. It was so sweet and pastel and very romantic. Aren't the little girls so happy jumping rope?? This pic was used on the book tag we made. We used a manila tag and distressed it using the new GORGEOUS GRUNGE stamp set.
I used crumb cake to distress the edges and the spots of age as well. We finished it off with riding hood red seam binding, blushing bride for the  ribbon tag which was folder embossed with the script embossing folder.
Next came the vintage print, which I distressed in Pretty in Pink ink. I then finished it off with a little bauble of pink I had lying around.
And last but not least I added a wonderful shaggy yarn trim in rich burgundy and reds to pull through the top hole. This hole we also added a cover hole made of a punch with a 1/4 inch hole punch and punched over with a  1/2 inch hole punch. This was just a scrap of a pinkish red paper .
